Benzino is popular not only because of the successful career he has built over the years, but more than that is the controversy he brews. He is an American hip-hop media manager, record producer, and TV personality and was known for his appearances in the VH1 reality TV series Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta, his infamous feud with Eminem, and his explosive relationship with his baby mom.
The hip-hop artist was born as Raymond Scott on July 18, 1965, in Boston, Massachusetts. He has a mixed pedigree; his mother is of Cape Verdean and German origin, his father of Puerto Rican, and African-American origin. He grew up with his two sisters Maureen, a doctor, and Anita Scott-Wilson, a veterinarian.
After the release of the hip-hop film Wild Out in 1983, Zino was immediately captivated by the screen and was inspired by it to enter the rap genre. In 1998 he founded the hip-hop magazine The Source together with his long-time friend and later business partner David Mays. It began in May at Harvard University’s Harvard Dormitory in May as a single-sheet newsletter but has since become the world’s longest published rap magazine.
Since 2003, it has had a long and widely published dispute with the American rapper Eminem. However, such an incident is not unfamiliar to the entertainment industry, especially among musicians, and diss tracks have served us as offshoots time and again. Just like Ja Rule and 50 Cent, the duo exchanged words in titles like Benzino’s Pull Your Skirt Up and Die Another Day, which was complemented by Ems’ well-orchestrated titles like Nail In The Coffin and The Sauce. Benzino also released a diss mixtape, Benzino Presents: Die Another Day: Flawless Victory (2003), which belittles Eminem and his record company.
To signal the ongoing hostility between them, Benzino used his office at The Source to his advantage against Em. He remained co-owner of the magazine until 2006 when he was forced to resign by the magazine’s private equity investors along with his partner Mays. After a constant back and forth between the two camps, the argument with Zino finally came to an end. Zino explained that the whole drama only served to slow them down and that if he could, he would have solved the situation in a different way.
Benzino is undoubtedly a bundle of talents. He was a founding member of the rap groups “The Almighty RSO” and “Made Men”, where he gathered and refined his skills before beginning his solo career. He has also released a number of compositions and albums, including mixtapes, collaborations, and remixes; The Benzino Remix Project (2002) His solo albums include The Benzino Project (2001), Redemption (2003), Arch Nemesis (2005), and The Antidote (2007). He is also a television personality, having appeared on the reality show Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta on VH1 (2012-2014), which explores the lives and careers of Atlanta-based rappers, and in TV One: 15’s original series The Next (2016), which is dedicated to television’s ex-stars who are now forgotten.
Although his musical endeavors did not bring him much fame, his forays into other arenas brought him much fame. He is a successful producer and entrepreneur. After leaving The Source, he became involved with another magazine called Hip Hop Weekly, which publishes articles on urban music such as rap and hip-hop.

During his time on the reality television series Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta he was with another cast member, Karlie Redd. Born in Redd, Karlie Lewis is also a hip-hop artist, model, and actress and has been one of the main cast since the reality show’s premiere in June 2012. However, the duo maintained a friendly relationship even after their separation.
After his separation from Redd, he moved to Althea Heart aka Thi Thi. They started dating during the third season of the series and increased their relationship in 2015 when they got engaged. While the fans waited for news of their wedding, they experienced an equally astonishing turn of events, namely their pregnancy. Their boat, however, was wrecked before the birth of their son, Zino Antonio Scott Jr. on November 10, 2015, and since then, in addition to the infidelity lawsuits against Zino, they have been involved in a number of legal battles.
Zino has two older children: son, Taj Collins (born 2003), and daughter Brittany Collins aka Coi Leray Collins (born 1997) from his previous relationship with Asia Collins.
As for the family, Uncle Zino was shot in the shoulder and back by his nephew Gai Scott at his mother’s funeral in March 2014. Fortunately, the wounds were not fatal.
His size may not be as loud as his personality, but that does nothing to undermine the height he has reached in the entertainment field. Benzino stands 3 inches above 5 feet (1.60 m).
