Charles Peete Rose Jr. popularly known as Charlie Rose is a renowned television journalist and former talk show host in America. He served as executive producer and host from 1991 to 2017.
Charlie Rose was born on January 5, 1942, in Henderson, North Carolina, United States of America. He happens to be the only child of his parents, Magret Frazier and Charles Peete Rose Sr (a tobacco farmer who owned a shop in the country).
Charles attended Henderson High School and Duke University. Before that, he wanted to pursue a degree in line with his medical studies, but Charlie Rose developed interests in politics when he did his internship in the office of Everet Jordan (the Senator of North Carolina).
Rose graduated in 1964 with a bachelor’s degree in history. He was also a former member of the Kappa Alpha Order Brotherhood at Duke. He received his doctorate in law from Duke University School of Law in 1968. While at Duke, Rose met his lovely wife Mary.
The career of Charlie Rose was a flourishing one. He once did some work for the BBC under a freelance contract. While working in one of the banks in New York in 1972, Rose got a job as a weekend reporter for WPIX-TV.
In 1974 he became famous after Bill Moyers hired him as editor-in-chief, who will be responsible for the Bill Moyers Journal. From 1984 to 1990, Rose worked for CBS News as the host of CBS Nightwatch (the station’s first nightly news show), where Rose mostly conducted one-on-one interviews with prominent personalities in a format similar to his later show on PBS.
Rose’s interview on the Nightwatch show with Charles Mansion actually won the News and Documentary Emmy Award in 1987. Charlie later left CBS in 1990 to serve as a celebrity host (a popular syndicated program produced by Fox TV), but six weeks after production it flopped.
The Charlie Rose Show premiered on PBS Thirteen/WNET on September 30, 1991. The show had been broadcast nationwide on PBS since January 1993.
Rose later moved the show to a studio owned by the Bloomberg LP. The new studio provided space for high-definition video via a remote satellite.

The famous Rose was struggling with a serious illness. On 29 March 2006, he experienced shortness of breath in Syria and was flown to France, where he was operated on at the European hospital Georges-Pompidou for a mitral valve repair.
