Guerschon Yabusele didn’t expect to be selected by the Boston Celtics for the 2016 NBA draft, but to everyone’s shock, he made it to 16th place. The French basketball player nicknamed The Dancing Bear began his career in his native France before entering the NBA. Here you can learn everything about him.
Guerschon Yabusele Bio and Age
Guerschon Yabusele was born on December 17, 1995, in Dreux, France, where he also grew up. He grew up as a child with a good height and good physique and was determined to become a boxer, for whom he trained, before deciding to pursue a career as a professional basketball player.
But the most interesting thing about him is that boxing, which was his first love, was not the only sport he grew up with, but that he also played soccer as a child. In fact, he played soccer and trained in boxing until the age of 7, when his father told him it would be good to try basketball because he believed that he would grow up very tall.
For his basketball career, Guerschon Yabusele started playing basketball in his home country with the French professional basketball club Chorale Roanne Basket from 2013 to 2015, before moving to Rouen Métropole Basket, where he spent only one season. He then joined the Shanghai Sharks in the Chinese Basketball Federation.
His next move was to join the Maine Red Claws in 2016 when he started playing basketball in the Minor League. From there he was called to the NBA in 2016 to play for the Boston Celtics in the National Basketball Association (NBA). In his debut game on October 20, Yabusele had a great game and within the first 3 minutes, he scored 3 points and a rebound.
Since he has played only a few games for the Boston Celtics in the NBA, he has not had much personal success on the team. However, when he played for the Chinese Basketball Federation, he made it into the CBA All-Star Team in 2017.
By the end of the regular NBA season 2017/2018, Guerschon Yabusele had played 33 games, starting in 4 games. He averaged 2.4 points per game, 1.6 rebounds, and 0.5 assists. In the 2017/2018 playoffs, he started in 12 games, scoring 0.9 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game.
The Boston Celtics player spent some time in the G-League, where he played for the Maine Red Claws, before moving on to the NBA.
Although he is a great player with a very bright future in the league, he had his own problems. One of the unfavorable things associated with him was a weakness in defense. Also, he had not been able to use his speed of feet to collect boards.
Although not so much is known about his family, it is known that he was born into an immigrant family that settled in France from the Democratic Republic of Congo. His love of boxing came from his father, who was a professional boxer and also served as his son’s coach when the basketball player was growing up.
He grew up with a brother and two sisters, not much is known about his mother. Moreover, although he is not married yet, there is no record of him having a girlfriend.
Height and Weight
The dancing bear is a basketball player who also played various sports in his life as a small boy. One of the most important things that helped him to be successful in different sports (boxing and soccer) as well as in basketball is his size and physique. He stands at a massive height of 2.03 m (6 feet 7 inches) and has a bodyweight of 118 kg (260).
The main problem for most athletes who have a huge physique is that they are not as agile as you would find on any field or court. The situation is different with Yabusele, who is big but still very agile when playing ball.
