Manav Kaul lived in Kashmir with his family, but during the riots of the 1990s, they settled in Hoshangabad in Madhya Pradesh.

Due to their poor financial conditions after Shifting, he had difficulty continuing his studies and his parents expected him to open a tea stand or a paan shop.

In difficult times, he would dive with his childhood friends into the Narmada River in search of the money thrown away by the devotees. There, a coach saw him and praised his swimming skills, and with his advice, he was selected for the Indian Sports Authority for 2 years in Bhopal, where he developed an interest in theatre plays.

Later, he moved to Mumbai and worked as a director, dramaturge and theatre director.

In 2006, he won the META Award for Best Script Award for his play Peele Scooter Wala Aadmi.

He directed his first feature film, Hansa in 2012, which won the Best Audience and Best Film Critic Award.

In 2013, he obtained his decisive role in the film Kai Po Che, where he played the role of a politician.
