Reuben Foster’s Bio
Reuben Burdon Foster was born on April 4, 1994, in Roanoke, Alabama. His parents – Inita Berry Paige and Danny Foster – separated in a divorce when he was very young, about 18 months old. It was an ugly separation because his father (Danny Foster) had shot his mother (Inita Paige) while she was carrying him on her back. In 1996 Dany Foster was arrested and tried by a grand jury before fleeing the state. Later he was caught and taken to Randolph County, but he managed to escape again, and so he stayed in Miami, Florida for sixteen years with a new identity. After being on the run for so long, Danny was apprehended again and returned to Randolph County in Alabama, where he was brought to justice.
The star player began his high school education at Troup County High School, and there he was part of the school’s soccer team, so he was considered the best linebacker in his class. He remained on the team until his junior season when he announced his transfer to another school. One of the reasons he decided to change was because the team’s head coach was fired when it became known that he had paid a football player to leave his school to play for the Troup. Reuben later completed his transfer and enrolled at Auburn High School.
His performance at Auburn High School was exceptional, and he participated in the Under Armour All-American Game in 2013, where he also received the MVP of Defense award. His career in soccer was so outstanding that ESPN recognized him as a four-star recruit and he was said to be the best inside linebacker in his class.
He had made an oral commitment to play for Auburn University, but Reuben’s commitment declined after the school fired its head coach Gene Chizik and his assistant Trooper Taylor. By this time he had developed a special kind of bond with the coach, and the school’s decision to dismiss the coach from the team caused him to change his mind about playing for them. With a plethora of offers on the table for him, he decided to play for Alabama even though the chances of Georgia getting his signature were high.
