Matthew Scott Porter was born on July 14, 1979, in Omaha, Nebraska, United States of America. He was raised by his parents together with his two siblings, Ariana Porter and Brendan Porter. As a child, Porter was always interested in sports, so it was only natural that he became a member of the soccer team during his time at Lake Howell High School in Winter Park, Florida.
Before graduating high school in 1997, he was a wide receiver on his team. He then studied at the University of Central Florida, where he co-founded an a cappella singing group called 4:2: Five and Mosaic. Not only did his student life end with fun and partying, but Porter also took jobs like babysitting and had no time to party.
